Speed up your Windows XP and Vista by turning off unnecessary visual
effects.
If you are running Windows XP or Vista on a slower computer you may
want to turn off all the excess visual effects. These effects can look
appealing, but the fact is that the more visual effects the Operating
System has to handle, the slower the system will be. You can disable
the visual effects to increase the speed of your Windows XP or Vista.
Once you install Software Candy's Windows Display
Accelerator (aka The Accelerator II), there should be a noticeable
difference in speed, especially in older machines (some users
report that they used this to run Windows XP on a Pentium II laptop
with little lag).
